Cenk Sönmezsoy

Hello! My name is Cenk (Jenk). I’m a writer, photographer, food stylist and a shameless chocoholic from Istanbul, Turkey.

After graduating from college, I moved to San Francisco, earned my MBA degree and started working at a high-tech PR agency. The day I decided I’d rather eat glass than sit through one more conference call to discuss yet another “ground-breaking” product, I moved back to Turkey.

I miss San Francisco so much, I still cruise rentals in the Marina and watch my old neighborhood from the Exploratorium’s roof cam.

I started a food blog back in 2005 and it got bigger than I could have ever imagined. The London Times listed Cafe Fernando as one of the “50 Best Food Blogs in the World”, Saveur named it “Best Culinary Travel Blog” in 2010 and chose the Brownies I designed for Dolce & Gabbana as “Best Original Baking and Desserts Recipe” in 2011.

Recently, I ditched my corporate job, became a full-time food blogger and started working on my first cookbook. I have a passion for telling stories and couldn’t be happier to call it my job now.
